Why are so many people, especially women, wanting to work from home and/or start up their own business?

Whilst attending a conference yesterday it struck me how many things have changed over the last few years, the major one being that a job is no longer for life!
Ok it wasn't that particular fact that has changed as my dad has been telling me that for years, along with the fact that you could take a girl out to the cinema, get a bag of chips after and the bus home and still have change from tuppence, or something like that. No what struck me like a bolt was that finally people are realising that the only thing that is for life is life!!!

Sounding daft?
Well no, it's obvious isn't it?

We are finally realising that we have control and can do whatever we want with our lives, as, well, they are ours! That's why so many people want to be their own boss, and do something that they are good at and enjoy!

It's Cool!

It's empowering <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

And it's bloody scarey!
You mean we are responsible? We can do and have whatever we want?

Well, in a nutshell, yeah! Watch this space for more indepth insights into how.

My advice for the mo' GO FOR IT!!!!!!
Look at who you are and what you want and take it step by step, be them big or small, and just GO FOR IT!!!
After all you never make any mistakes or get things wrong, you just have learning experiences!

Enjoy your day, after all it's yours!!!!!

It seems that everyone I meet at the moment is fighting time, yes again I have a fixation with time or rather other peoples issues with it!

'I haven't got enough'
'It's going to fast'
'Time's flying by' etc etc etc

Well today for once I stopped, paused as it were to see what was happening around me and listened to the ticking clock...and what happened...?

Well nothing profound apart from the fact that time seemed to slow.
By breathing deep into the pit of my abdomen and just waiting it seems like I have become truly in control of my time!
Daft it may seem but when was the last time that you stood still and waited and breathed? I mean really stood still and breathed?

Just try it, stop and breathe. Preferably not when operating heavy machinery or driving but then if you are reading this hopefully you are in a safe space to be able to stop. So Stop. Breathe. And just for the moments become your own time agent, take control and know that what gets done, gets done and what doesn't, well heck it can wait!

Enjoy and breathe!
We all seem to be searching or looking for it and when we don't have our own we borrow, beg or steal it!
But what about time?

I have realised over the last few days that time is far more important thann mney, for no matter how much money you have, you can never turn back time. (Cher fans please insert song here)

Time is a commodity that we just let slip through our fingers. How many of us say, 'I've got time to kill' or 'I can't wait'. Why?
Too many people moan about growing old when in actual fact if they enjoyed each minute of each day then they would be amazed that a year has passed as they will realise how much they have achieved.

My challenge for those of you who read this is to be in the NOW and enjoy each and everymoment of it, yes every moment the tears, sorrow and pain as well as the joy, happiness and laughter. All of it goes into making you who you are and creates yours life, so why not enjoy it? For when it's gone, that's it,ciao!

'Enjoy the journey as much as the destination'

It is very easy to get swept along in life, just drifting, day to day, waiting to see what will happen next, who you'll meet and where that will take you. Sometimes this is just right, waiting to see what the universe delivers next and where it leads you is very exciting.

There is a danger however of that drifting becoming a habit, turning into procrastination, fear and stagnation. Five years down the line, you are still in the same position, berating yourself and your life for the fact that you never achieve anything or move forward!

Why?

Why do we stop ourselves from moving forward and actually getting the things that we want and deserve? And why don't we celebrate what we already have in our lives?

As children we dream. We have many dreams and they never have limitations. Posters on the wall of being an astronaut, pop star, Oscar winning actress, racing car driver, winning a gold medal. It isn't until someone else puts a limiter on it that we stop dreaming. 'You can't do that as you are a girl/boy, not clever enough, don't have enough money etc etc' Not only is that dream lost but all subsequent dreams also now have limiters on them; you can only go so far and then that's enough for you.

Again Why?

'Would you tell me please, which way I ought to go from here?'
'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to' said the Cat
'I don't much care where' said Alice
'Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat

Lewis Carroll. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

One of the main reasons that many of us don't know where we are going or what we want is because of our limiters. Well lets make Spring 2006 the time that you break free from your limiters, let your beauty emerge like the flowers in spring and unlock your potential. 'Sounds great! But How?'

Dream.

Sit and dream. Take the time out to think as a child again. Forget money, education, social class and any other limiters and just dream. Find a safe comfortable place, close your eyes, maybe have some soft music on in the background and then let go. Shut off that brain and let the mind take a stroll down Imagination Lane, be that pop star, score that winning goal, accept that award for being the best at (fill in the space). Just dream for a few minutes.
Then collect pictures, just as you did as a child, pictures that show images of people you want to meet, places you want to go, things you want to own or if you are artistically minded draw or paint it. Then place your picture/s somewhere that you can look at them everyday, on your fridge, over the mirror, on the computer or in a scrap book. And everyday take at least a minute to look at your picture and dream. You might want to add to it as time goes by or even change it totally, that's fine as it's your dream you can do whatever you like. It's your DREAM!

'No one can get anywhere unless they know where they want to go and what they want to be or do'

Norman Vincent Peale
